For opera houses, theatres, and performance venues worldwide, Big Image specialises in large format seamless textile imagery and is the only company globally capable of producing seamless cotton backdrops at this scale, up to 12 × 50 meters (40 × 150 feet). Engineered exclusively for professional stage use, meeting B1 and EN fire certification standards.

The invention behind big and beautiful imagery

To achieve this, we developed our own proprietary printing technology. We call it Infinitus. Our Infinitus machines are custom-built textile printers developed by Big Image, launched in 2013 after three years of engineering. It is designed specifically for soft stage materials and can produce seamless prints up to 600 square meters , approximately 12 × 50 meters (40 × 150 feet). For larger dimensions, backdrops can be created with carefully crafted vertical seams to reach any size. The technology prints directly onto cotton fabric, either single-sided or double-sided. Combined with a self-developed alignment and registration system, it ensures consistent image precision and color accuracy across the entire surface.

Why cotton for stage backdrops

Cotton remains one of the most reliable and versatile materials for large-scale stage backdrops. We work with carefully selected, high-quality cotton fabrics chosen for their stability and predictable performance when hung.

American Mesh for stage effects

Often referred to as American Mesh or Sharkstooth scrim, this open-weave textile allows light to pass through, creating depth and enabling layered and reveal effects on stage.
