For the exhibition Ghost Ships at...

Threads of tradition. Hands of craft and resilience. Women lifting women.   This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the artisans behind The Milaya Project - founded by photographer Nora Lorek and National Geographic writer Nina Strochlic. The initiative connects South Sudanese refugee women living in the Bidibidi settlement in Uganda with customers who support their traditional craft of embroidery.   Through pillowcases and other textiles sold in The Milaya Project webshop, the women’s collectives can grow their businesses while preserving a rich cultural heritage.   Big Image supports the initiative by printing Nora Lorek’s photographs on sheer textile, creating a canvas for the women’s intricate hand embroidery. These embroidered photographs are later shown in exhibitions, helping bring visibility to both the craft and the women behind it. @milayaproject @noralorek @ninastrochlic

A stage wrapped in whispers of the past. . For The Tempest at Trøndelag Teater in Norway, Big Image provided two scenographic elements. The backdrop was printed on cotton and mounted in a wooden frame, creating a solid and defined base for the stage design. . We also provided a lightweight silk fabric used as a moving element in the scenography. .
