Big Image Finalist at the Druck&Medien Awards 2026

Big Image has been named a finalist at the Druck&Medien Awards 2026: Most Innovative Company of the Year and Digital Printer of the Year. Behind the nominations are clients that have challenged the company to explore new materials, develop new techniques, and find new ways of bringing creative ideas to life. The winners will be announced on 29 October.

Many of Big Image’s innovations start with a client’s idea: a creative vision that asks for something that hasn’t been done quite that way before. And this year, that work has earned the family business a place among the five finalists at the Druck&Medien Awards, in the categories Most Innovative Company of the Year and Digital Printer of the Year.

When an idea asks for something different

Behind the nomination are projects like the stage production for Are You Ready to Die? at Schauspielhaus Zürich, directed by Marie Schleef and stage design by Eva Veronica Born. Here, the challenge centred on transparency and light. Big Image produced a large transparent cyclorama in Trevira fabric. A central doorway in a second material, with a different degree of transparency, added another layer. Material behaviour, light and spatial effect had to work together in a single scenic element.

Another example of a project is a huge double-sided Day-Night backdrops surrounded the set in 360 degrees, created for a feature film. By switching between front and back lighting, the scenery could change between times of day and weather conditions.

“Innovation at Big Image has always been driven by curiosity – but just as importantly, by our customers. When someone comes to us with an idea that challenges what we know, it gives us a reason to explore what could be possible. These nominations are therefore as much a celebration of the trust our customers place in us as they are of our own team.”
